Phulkari, a traditional embroidery of Punjab. A art that has been carried on for generations by the women of Punjab. Phulkari or Phula di aari means 'flower embroidery',symbolic of the rich cultural heritage and tradition of Punjab. It was usually done on a shawl or duppatta in very vibrant colors and the fabrics used initially were soft cotton called malmal and a thick hand loom cotton fabric called khaddar.
